The center console on my wife’s car is stuck in the open position. The toddler is concerned.
A plastic clip broke and it’s weighted to pop up. But even when I push it won’t go back down. Something is locked up. 2016 Mazda CX-5 for the record.

Keep an eye on that plastic clip that grabs the base.

Weird. I would figure the pin or hinge would be visible. Good thing they didn't make that way, otherwise you might be able to troubleshoot on your own, heaven forbid.

Should be a TSB for it I saw that happen a few times when I was a Mazda tech.

It's a somewhat common issue there's a TSB I believe. We used to replace the whole lid and they had us start replacing just the little latch because it got so expensive.
